Training Courses
Beginners Course – Woodturning Level 1
6-week training course
Our 6-week courses are held one day a week for 6 consecutive weeks, from 10am to 4pm.
The start date for the next course is to be advised. There are a limited number of places available.
There are 5 experienced tutors to assist you at every step, all safety equipment is provided, and you can take home your finished pieces. Following the successful completion of the course, you will be awarded a personal certificate.
The course Covers
- safety in the workshop
- how to turn wood
- turning green wood
- sanding techniques
- applying finishing polishes, waxes or oils
- how to sharpen chisels
- tool maintenance
- machinery maintenance
COST
The course costs $240.00 for the 6 sessions, and includes the wood, printed material and tea or coffee at break times. For KWWG members the cost is $180.00. The full cost needs to be paid 1 week prior to the course commencing.

We will start taking registrations once the next course dates are confirmed.
Joining the Guild
Course attendees are welcome to join the Kapiti Woodworkers Guild.
The membership subscription is currently $60.00 per annum. This is discounted by $10.00 for members of the New Zealand Association of Woodworkers.
